San Ramon Students Host Desi Dhamaka Night For Charity

The event, which will feature food trucks, raffle, a DJ, henna, and more, will raise money for free eye surgeries in India.

SAN RAMON, CA — The Indian 4 a Change Club, a student-run cultural heritage and service club with chapters at Dougherty Valley High School and California High School, is hosting Desi Dhamaka, a celebration of Indian culture that will take place at the Gale Ranch Middle School Multi-Purpose Room April 19 from 5:45 to 9 p.m.

The Indian 4 a Change Club is running the event in collaboration with the Sankara Eye Foundation Club. The event will raise funds for the Sankara Eye Foundation, which provides free eye surgeries to underserved communities in rural India. The club, which is run by DVHS junior and Indian 4 a Change leader Sravya Namburu, is actively recruiting new members.

The Desi Dhamaka will feature ticket raffles, food trucks with Indian food from Chaat Bhavan Restaurant and boba tea, a photo booth, a live DJ, performances by students from the DVHS A Capella Club, caricatures from the DVHS National Art Honors Society, henna tattooing by student volunteers, and more.
