SRVUSD Board Rescinds Child Care Decision; No Provider Changes For a Year

With possible legal action hanging over them, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education unanimously voted to rescinded its to change child care providers at three elementary schools.

The board then voted 4-1 to direct staff to extend the child care leases for one year at all the schools.

All five board members said they believed they made the correct decision two weeks ago, but were concerned about the amount of money the district would have to spend in court.

The board was being challenged that they had violated the Brown Act, a California law that gives the public the right to attend meetings of local legislative bodies.

The schools that were going to be affected were , and . The Growing Room was the provider at all three, but the board, following committee recommendations, voted to change providers at the schools.

If the board did not change its decision, starting next school year, Kids' Country would have taken over at Tassajara Hills and Twin Creeks. At Golden View, the YMCA would have been the child care provider.
