Suspect Throws Rocks At San Ramon Car: Police

SAN RAMON, CA — An unknown suspect flung a rock from a slingshot and hit a car door in San Ramon, according to the victim and the San Ramon Police Department.

According to the victim’s account on Nextdoor, someone flung a rock from the slingshot on Aug. 5 at around 4:40 p.m. as they were driving down Pine Valley Road between Davona and Broadmoor drives. The victim said the rock damaged the door, causing $2500 in damage, and the San Ramon police said the window was shattered.

No other witnesses or suspects have been identified, police said. Patch reached out to the victim for further information.

In June, a San Jose man was charged with eight felony counts for allegedly throwing landscaping rocks at freeway drivers near the Hellyer Avenue overpass above Highway 101, according to The Mercury News. Several people were injured, and one person lost control and crashed into a tree. San Jose police reported that the car of 29-year-old suspect Michael Avila Pedraza was loaded with 28 rocks.

In April, suspect Ruben Lopez was arrested after allegedly throwing rocks at passing vehicles, parked cars, and businesses, according to a KRON4 report that cited a Napa Police Department social media post. Police said Lopez hit one Napa officer in the leg with a rock.
