SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A 10-day prescribed burn program begins Wednesday at Wilder Ranch State Park, located west and north of Santa Cruz, in order to manage vegetation, reduce fire fuel and improve wildlife habitats.

The burns are scheduled from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily from Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 5. The program will burn about 600 acres of grassland habitats, according to state parks officials.

Some trails will be closed temporarily to ensure public safety, including Enchanted Loop, Baldwin Loop, Wilder Ridge and Zane Gray Cutoff Loop.
