17 Arrested, 46 Cited As Massive Crowds Descend On Santa Cruz For Halloween
Halloween celebrations in downtown Santa Cruz drew an estimated 15,000 people Friday night.
Halloween celebrations in downtown Santa Cruz drew an estimated 15,000 people Friday night, with no major incidents of violence reported, police said.
According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, officers were deployed across city neighborhoods and on foot in the downtown corridor to manage the large crowds.
Police reported making four DUI arrests, nine public intoxication arrests, three misdemeanor arrests, and one felony arrest.

Officers also issued 46 triple fine citations for various violations, including alcohol offenses, trespassing and littering.
While citations and arrests increased compared to last year, police said early and visible police presence helped ensure a safe and successful Halloween.
