2 Starbucks In Santa Cruz Accuse Corporate Of Unfair Practices: Report

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Two Starbucks stores in Santa Cruz are taking legal action, filing cases against the corporate office through the National Labor Relations Board alleging unfair labor practices, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.

Both cases revolve around upper management at Starbucks in the city and throughout the country with reports surrounding surveillance and intimidation to cut hours after employees showed interest in creating a union, the paper reported.

“Every store that files a union petition has had an overwhelming district manager presence,” Joseph Thompson, a local union leader and state assembly candidate, told the paper.

The paper reports four Starbucks locations in California have upcoming unionization votes, including three in Santa Cruz and one in Mill Valley.
