Electrical Fire In Santa Cruz Causes $245K In Damage; Displaces 4
Fire officials remind the public not to overload power strips after a Wednesday afternoon fire.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A fire caused about $245,000 of damage to a house early Wednesday afternoon in Santa Cruz, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded at 12:14 p.m. to 433 Effey St. after someone reported a fire in an upstairs bedroom.
The first crew on the scene saw heavy smoke and fire coming from a second story window. All the residents of the home were outside.

Firefighters put out the blaze in about 10 minutes. Fire officials said four people were displaced. The officials said the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and accidental. No one was injured.
