4 Displaced By Santa Cruz House Fire Friday Morning

The blaze caused an estimated $100,000 of damage, fire officials said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Firefighters extinguished a residential fire in Santa Cruz on Friday morning that displaced four people and caused an estimated $100,000 of damage, fire officials said. Firefighters responded at 10:33 a.m. to a blaze in the 300 block of Younglove Avenue that happened to be less than a block from where they were conducting a training exercise, according to fire officials.

When they arrived, the firefighters saw smoke coming from the front windows of a single-story house, fire officials said. The firefighters deployed a hose line to the inside of the house and began to put out the fire. Additional crews went on the roof and secured gas and electrical services.

The firefighters controlled the fire in 10 minutes, fire officials said. There were no reported injuries.The fire was caused by an electrical failure that originated from the back bedroom, according to an investigation.
