​80-Year-Old Woman Killed In Head-On Crash In Santa Cruz County

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — An 80-year-old woman died in a head-on collision Saturday morning on state Highway 9 between Ben Lomond and Felton in Santa Cruz County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The Felton woman was driving north in a red 1967 Volkswagen Beetle that collided with a southbound silver 2006 Toyota Sequoia south of Brackney Road about 8:20 a.m., the CHP said on social media.

The driver of the Volkswagen was declared dead at the scene. The Toyota driver, a 24-year-old woman from Santa Cruz, wasn't injured, according to the highway patrol.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. It's unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors, the CHP said.
