Where To Vote, Drop Off Your Ballot In Santa Cruz

Voting in the Newsom recall election? Here's where you can drop off your ballot or vote in person.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Ballots for the recall election targeting Gov. Gavin Newsom have been sent to Santa Cruz voters and votes are starting to trickle in.

Election Day isn't until Sept. 14 but early voting options are available. In-person voting is already underway in the cities of Santa Cruz and Watsonville.

There were 170,000 people registered to vote in Santa Cruz County as of July 16, the most recent day for which data was available.

Ballot Drop Boxes

You can always drop your ballots in the mailbox, but there are plenty of ballot drop boxes throughout the county you feel more comfortable using one.

  • Santa Cruz County government center parking lot: 701 Ocean St.
  • Parking lot 16: 212 Church St.
  • University of California, Santa Cruz: Quarry Plaza

Polling Places

Whether you vote on Election Day or choose to vote in-person a few days early, here are some spots to check out near you.

Early Voting

Early voting is already underway at the following locations.

  • Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections: 701 Ocean St., Room 310, Santa Cruz
  • Watsonville City Clerk's Office: 275 Main St., 4th Floor (6th Floor of the parking garage)

Early voting will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11 to Sept. 13 and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day at the following locations near you.

  • Simpkins Family Swim Center: 979 17th Ave.
  • Civic Auditorium: 307 Church St.
  • Masonic Center: 828 North Branciforte Ave.
  • UC Santa Cruz Stevenson Event Center, 520 Cowell-Stevenson Road
