Burning Fishing Boat: 7 Rescued Off Monterey Bay Coast
Crewmembers were found floating on a life raft, signaling to a helicopter with a flashlight.

MONTEREY BAY, CA — The Coast Guard rescued seven people from a burning fishing boat 350 miles west of Monterey Wednesday early morning, according to the Eleventh Coast Guard District.
Coast Guard officials responded to multiple emergency radio beacons at 12:20 a.m. from the 85-foot commercial fishing boat called Blue Dragon.
Coast Guard aircrew from Sacramento arrived on the scene at 3:21 a.m. Officials said the Blue Dragon crewmembers were aboard a life raft and signaling to the plane with a flashlight. A second aircrew dispatched at 9 a.m.

Crew from the Nord Rubicon vessel, initially 80 miles northwest of the Blue Dragon, also responded to the Coast Guard's request for assistance, and arrived to the scene at 9:30 a.m.
The Nord Rubicon transported the seven crewmembers to San Francisco. No injuries were reported, according to the Coast Guard.
