Butch Baker, Elizabeth Butler: May They Rest In Peace
Friday afternoon at 3:23 p.m., members of the Santa Cruz Police Department will gather at the Baker-Butler Memorial Garden to remember.
SANTA CRUZ - A photo tweet this morning of the memorial stone in Baker-Butler Memorial Garden honoring Santa Cruz Police officers Loran “Butch” Baker and Elizabeth Butler notes the 3rd anniversary Friday of the deaths of the two officers.
Friday afternoon at 3:23 p.m., members of the Santa Cruz Police Department will gather at the Baker-Butler Memorial Garden in the front courtyard of the police department for a ceremony to honor and remember fallen friends and heroes.
On “Baker-Butler Memorial Day” in the City of Santa Cruz, flags will be lowered at all City facilities.

Three years ago, on February 26, 2013, Baker and Butler were gunned down by a suspect they had gone to interview about a sexual assault case. The two were the first Santa Cruz Police officers ever killed in the line of duty.
