Cheap Trick from Japan; the Archies; Santa Cruz Hits, New Vinyl Store Has Some Rarities
New record store in the space that was almost a gun shop has some classic old vinyl.
Finally got into the new record store on 17th Avenue and Brommer yesterday and I need to just direct deposit my pay check there.
Undefeated Records at 1718 Brommer St. is a dream come true for owner Brian Hermosillo, who had a chance to live rent free in Live Oak and start the business that's what he's always aspired to as a record collector.Â
The quality and rarity of the vinyl is impressive. I bought a signed Bill Wyman picture disc for $10 and lusted for a disc of great old Santa Cruz musicians including Cornelius Bumpus and Eddie and the Tide for $18. I even wanted a pristine Archies album.Â
Hermosillo says most of his customers so far are from Live Oak. One of them was a famous musician: the bass player from the band Harpers Bizarre, Dick Yount.
