CHP Releases Santa Cruz County DUI Statistics For The New Year

Statewide, nearly 630 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence over the holiday weekend.

BAY AREA, CA — The California Highway Patrol arrested 14 Santa Cruz County drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence over the holiday weekend.

All available officers were out patrolling, looking for dangerous drivers from midnight Friday to midnight Monday.

There were no fatalities, though there was one solo-bicycle crash overnight Monday that left the cyclist with major injuries, said CHP Santa Cruz spokesperson Sam Courtney. The cyclist was arrested on suspicion of DUI after the crash in the area of Capitola Road at Harbor View Court.
