Drive-by Shooting in Santa Cruz Leaves One Man Injured
The victim was taken to a Bay Area trauma center to be treated for his injuries.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 19-year-old man was injured in a drive-by gang-related shooting in Santa Cruz on Monday, according to police. Officers responded at 8:59 p.m. to a report of a shooting at Raymond Street and Leibrandt Avenue near Beach Flats Park and found the victim, who had suffered a "significant wound" to his upper left leg, police said.
The victim was taken to a Bay Area trauma center to be treated for his injuries. An update on his condition was not immediately available from police.
The victim, whose account was corroborated by witnesses, said he was approached by a light-colored four-door compact car with tinted windows and several shots were fired from inside the vehicle, police said.
The shots also hit a concrete wall in Beach Flats Park and an unoccupied car parked near the intersection, according to police.

The suspect vehicle, which had two or three people inside, was last seen heading the wrong way on Raymond Street toward Beach Street. No detailed description of the suspects was immediately available from police.
Investigators said the shooting appears to be gang-motivated but did not elaborate.
