Viewfinder: The Closest You Can Get To Elephant Seals
The Jan. 28 sessions to view elephant seals for hours at a time at Ano Nuevo State Park are sold out. But you can see the world's most unusual animals up close and personal if you drive three hours south to Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery.
Babies were born; seagulls and mother elephant seals fought over afterbirth, moms fought off the advances of prospective dads.
They fought, they frolicked, they hung out in the sun. It was a regular orgy of sealdom Saturday at the beach along Highway One just north of San Simeon.
