Ex-UC Student Gets 6 Years Marijuana Crash Recorded On Snapchat

The 2016 spring break crash killed two people.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- A 21-year-old woman who attended UC Santa Cruz was sentenced recently for a deadly 2016 spring break crash fueled by marijuana and captured on Snapchat. Lynnea Leticia Hernandez, the driver in the crash, was sentenced after two passengers were killed and two other passengers were injured, according to KSBW8.

The news station said prosecutors found a Snapchat video of the passengers "dancing raucously, singing and passing around a marijuana pipe" prior to the crash.

"Hernandez at one point is seen looking and singing into the video taking her eyes off the road and not paying attention to driving," the news station reported.

The former UC student was apparently active on social media even after the fatal crash, KSBW8 reported.

"While out on bail, she posted a video on Vimeo that featured dozens of Snapchat videos showing herself partying with friends and dancing inside vehicles. The party-themed, 19-minute-long video is titled, 'Sophomore Year 2015-2016,'" the news station said.
