Fire At UC Santa Cruz Campus Extinguished
Cal Fire officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Firefighters extinguished a fire at University of California at Santa Cruz this morning, according to Cal Fire officials. The fire was reported at 7:18 a.m. at Chinquapin Road, which runs past Crown College and Merrill College near a thick forest of redwood trees.
The fire was about three-fourths of an acre and firefighters contained it in one hour, according to Cal Fire.
Fire personnel are still on scene late this morning to clean a large amount of duff, or redwood needles, cast on the ground.
Cal Fire officials said no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
