Injured Man Rescued From Water At Santa Cruz Wharf

BREAKING: The man suffered a hip injury and was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center, police said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — An injured man was rescued Wednesday night from the water near the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, police said. At 8:36 p.m., Santa Cruz police responded to a report of an individual in the water near the wharf who was holding on to a pile and in need of help.

Police, firefighters and harbor patrol responded within minutes. Harbor patrol crews pulled the 27-year-old Santa Cruz man out of the water. He suffered a hip injury and was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center, police said.

Police do not yet know how the man got into the water, police said.
