Easter isn't necessarily the biggest sales time for The Hat Company of Santa Cruz, according to the store's owner who asked to be identified as Maria.

But it's definitely a holiday with hats in mind.

But nothing compared to a few years ago, when Easter, the Kentucky Derby and the Royal Wedding occurred within days of each other and hats flew off the shelves like umbrellas in a rain storm.

The store has been in business selling all kinds of brims for 28 years.
