Man Shot Near Santa Cruz Flea Market Saturday

BREAKING: Police said the victim drove himself half a mile down Soquel Drive to Dominican Hospital after the shooting.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A man was shot in the upper torso near the Santa Cruz Flea Market in Live Oak on Saturday morning, Santa Cruz County sheriff's officials said Monday. The victim drove himself half a mile down Soquel Drive to Dominican Hospital after the shooting.

Sheriff's deputies contacted the man at the hospital as he was being treated for his wounds, which are not considered to be life-threatening. He was later released from the hospital.The man and his assailant knew each other, according to sheriff's officials.

The suspect remains at large, but sheriff's officials, who are reviewing surveillance footage and following up on leads, do not believe he poses a threat to the community.
