Man Shot In Neck Sunday: Santa Cruz Police Recover Bullet Casing

BREAKING: Investigators are reviewing area surveillance footage in an effort to identify suspects.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Police in Santa Cruz are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning that left a man injured. At 2:09 a.m., police responded to the 700 block of Pacific Avenue on a report of a shooting.

Witnesses described a male victim who was shot in the neck and taken to a hospital by a bystander, police said. Officers immediately contacted the 33-year-old victim at the emergency room. He was uncooperative, intoxicated and refused to provide officers with a description of the suspect, police said.

The victim suffered a bullet wound to his neck area and was flown to a trauma center for treatment, police said. Investigators recovered a .22-caliber casing at the crime scene on Pacific Avenue, police said.
