Man's Body Found Near Low San Lorenzo River Levee

BREAKING: Police said the man is believed to be a transient.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 70-year-old man was found dead near the San Lorenzo River levee this morning in Santa Cruz, police said. Police responded to the area of lower San Lorenzo River to a report of a body in the water and located the man along the west levee shoreline. Firefighters pulled him out of the water.

Police said the man is believed to be a transient, and the cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.
The death does not pose any danger to the public and the man's identity is not being released until next of kin are notified, police said.
