Marijuana Oil Extraction Lab Explosion: 1 Suspect Arrested In Santa Cruz Co.
BREAKING: The explosion and fire were reported at 150 Mill Road in unincorporated Santa Cruz County on Monday.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday whose shed exploded the day before due to an alleged marijuana oil extraction operation. On Tuesday afternoon, deputies arrested 57-year-old Ray Mosier on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance. He was taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail, sheriff's officials said.
On Monday around 10 a.m., sheriff's deputies and local fire crews responded to a report of an explosion and fire at 150 Mill Road in unincorporated Santa Cruz County. According to sheriff's officials, the explosion happened in a shed on the property. Remnants of the explosion were examined and it was determined that some of the items recovered were used to extract hash oil from marijuana oil.
Sheriff's officials said Mosier resides on the property and used the shed exclusively, but he was not there when deputies arrived. Deputies returned to the property Tuesday afternoon and located and arrested Mosier.
