Masked Men Rob Mission Street 7-Eleven Store

SANTA CRUZ - Two men robbed a convenience store at gunpoint in Santa Cruz early Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery at a 7-Eleven store in the 2400 block of Mission Street at about 12:20 a.m.

Two men entered the business in dark clothing and concealed their faces with a black cover, according to police. One of the suspects had a chrome revolver and was confronted by an employee’s dog.

The armed suspect aimed the weapon at the animal, which prompted the employee to call the pet away from the man, according to police. Both suspects then approached the employee and demanded cash at gunpoint, police said.

The worker complied with the demand and the suspects fled south on Swift Street. No injuries were reported.

Investigators say they have obtained video footage from the store of the incident, and released this still image.

Both suspects are described as Hispanic men between 18 and 25 years old, according to police.

Witnesses reported a white Mercedes-Benz or Lexus sedan speeding through the neighborhood without its lights on following the robbery, police said.
