Hard-fought win in San Jose brings trophy to soccer program.

Goals by two sophomores, one in the first half, one in the second, were all the Menlo girls soccer team needed to beat Santa Cruz 2-0 Saturday afternoon for the CCS Division III championship.

On a warm, sunny winter day in San Jose, midfielder Jaye Boissiere scored in the first half on a penalty kick in the 34th minute. Forward Chandler Wickers then put the game out of reach in the second half with a goal in the 67th minute.

The Knights seemed on top of their game from the start, committing very few turnovers, and dominating the ball throughout both halves.
