Monterey: Person Dies After 'Dangling' From Marriott Hotel Balcony

A person died after falling from a hotel balcony on Monday night in Monterey, according to police.

MONTEREY, CA — A person died after falling from a hotel balcony on Monday night in Monterey, according to police.

Monterey police said that at approximately 9 p.m. Monday, their officers and the city's Fire Department responded to the Marriott Hotel at 350 Calle Principal after being alerted to a report of a female "dangling" from a balcony on the fifth floor.

When officers arrived, they found the female unresponsive with major injuries on the Pacific Street sidewalk.

Police said life-saving efforts were provided to the injured individual for several minutes before she was transported to Natividad Medical Center. She eventually died at the hospital.

Detectives said foul play was unlikely a factor in her death but their investigation is still preliminary.
