Napa Sheepdog Has Litter Of 17
A Maremma Sheepdog gave birth to 17 puppies on a Napa farm this week, which may break the California record for the breed.
NAPA - A Maremma Sheepdog may have broken the California and world record for the largest litter of puppies ever recorded for its own breed.
Napa farmer John Costanzo says Stella, a 3-year-old Maremma Sheepdog, had 17 puppies.

“Six to eight is normal,” Costanzo told CBS5. “Seventeen is insane.”
He said the vet told them on the spot Stella set a record for the state. It’s also the largest litter ever recorded for her breed.

“We were blown away, it’s going to take forever to feed them,” said Costanzo.
The owner says Maremma Sheepdogs are a breed of livestock guardian dogs from central Italy.
