Pipe Bomb Exploded At Santa Cruz School This Weekend, Police Say
A makeshift pipe bomb exploded at a local public school Saturday evening, prompting a response from the sheriff's bomb squad, police said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A pipe bomb exploded Saturday evening at the Harbor High School baseball field, police said.
An explosion was reported in the area just before 7 p.m. Saturday and police said they found a "makeshift" pipe bomb lodged in chain link fencing at the baseball field.
Law enforcement got in touch with area residents through a reverse 911 alert and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to the area. The bomb squad rendered it safe.

The explosion was one of 120 calls for service police responded to during a busy 10-hour weekend shift, police said.
