A surfer was reportedly hospitalized following a possible shark attack In Pacific Grove on Wednesday morning.
PACIFIC GROVE, CA — A surfer was reportedly hospitalized following a possible shark attack In Pacific Grove on Wednesday morning.
The surfer was injured around 11 a.m. Wednesday near Lovers Point, city Councilman Joe Amelia told KSBW. The surfer, who was not identified, was hospitalized with severe stomach and leg injuries, news reports said. His condition was not known.
Pacific Grove Police taped closure signs on the beach, KION-TV reported. The park will close for at least 48 hours.

Witnesses said they saw a shark swimming in the area.
As Patch has previously reported, shark attacks are very rare. Statistically speaking, the chances someone will be attacked by a shark are practically zero. Those who are attacked have a survival rate of about 90 percent.
