Press Release of the Day: Warriors Get Mad Ant Draft Pick

I thought for a minute this was April Fool's Day, not Halloween.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Santa Cruz Warriors have acquired a third-round draft pick in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in exchange for forward Tommy Smith.

Smith was awarded a Santa Cruz Warriors training camp roster spot earlier today as a returning player. In the 2011-2012 season, the 6’10’’ forward averaged 7.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 38 games with the Dakota Wizards.

There's a team called the Mad Ants?

Come on. This must be a joke, right? Do other teams bring cans of Raid to the games?

I can't wait to see their T-shirts. I must have one when they come to play.

What's next? Hummingbirds?

OMG: Go here to see their mascot. So bad, it's brilliant. It's as bad as that crab that used to run around Candlestick.

Here's the Mad Ant Mascot's biography. If D-League B-Ball is all this fun, I may like it.
