Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Rides Evacuated; 1.3K Lost Power

The outage was reported around 3 p.m. Monday

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk rides were evacuated Monday afternoon amid a power outage.

Power has since been restored to the area, but the outage started just before 3 p.m. and impacted 1,300 Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers in the area, according to the utility. The outage appeared to stretch from the area of The Circles neighborhood to the boardwalk and extended to the coastline.

The boardwalk said on Twitter that all rides were evacuated as of 3:30 p.m. except for the Sky Glider, "which takes a little longer to evacuate when power is lost."
