Santa Cruz Firefighters Save House After Dryer Fire
Firefighters said there was $15,000 of damage, but $700,000 of house saved.

A flaming second-floor clothes dryer at 106 Alta Ave. was doused by Santa Cruz firefighters just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, saving most of a $700,000 house.
Four engines, one truck and 15 firefighters fought the small blaze, which had been held in check by a sprinkler system. Waterproof covers protected items on the first floor from water damage and the blaze was estimated at $15,000 of damage.
The cause of the blaze was excessive build up of lint in the lint trap. No one was injured in the blaze.
