Santa Cruz High Students Take to the Streets to Support Their Teachers

More than 100 students left Santa Cruz High during classes and marched to the Clock Tower to support their teachers who are in labor negotiations.

Teachers, whose average salary is around $50,000, haven't had a raise in five years and said they were promised a more substantial increase if the district got more money from Proposition 30. However, after the funding bill passed, they said they were only offered a 1 percent raise.

They meet with the district tomorrow to continue negotiations.

"Pay our teachers," students chanted, along with, "We are the future..."
