Santa Cruz Man Killed In Hit-And-Run, Driver On Loose

A black 2002 GMC Yukon was responsible, CHP said. The victim died Monday at the scene.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A Santa Cruz man walking along Highway 1 in Santa Cruz was killed late Monday in a hit-and-run, officials said.

His killer, who drove a black 2002 GMC Yukon, remains on the loose, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. The car was recovered near the scene

The victim, a 47-year-old man who has not yet been named, died at the scene. The crash occurred shortly before midnight Tuesday, at Highway 1 north of Shaffer Road.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call CHP at 831-662-0511 during the day or 831-796-2160 after hours.
