Santa Cruz Man Suspected Of Domestic Violence Arrested

BREAKING: Police said the victim reported that the suspect punched her in the head with brass knuckles.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Police in Santa Cruz on Thursday arrested a man in connection with a domestic abuse incident that had occurred earlier in that day. Randy Lewthwaite, 35, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and inflicting injury on a cohabitant, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Police said Lewthwaite had gotten into a fight with a woman inside his home on Thursday. The victim reported Lewthwaite punched her in the head with brass knuckles.

Later that evening, officers located the suspect in the area of Washburn Avenue, and he was detained without incident. During his arrest, officers recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun hidden in Lewthwaite's waistband, police said.
