Santa Cruz Mountains Spotlighted In New York Times Travel Ranking
See why Santa Cruz County was recognized on a list of destinations worldwide.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County was featured on a New York Times ranking of destinations of "places for a changed world," geared at shining a spotlight on "places around the globe where travelers can be part of the solution."
Santa Cruz County took the #44 spot on a list of 52 locales. It was the only Golden State destination featured.

The piece encouraged travelers to check out the Santa Cruz Mountains, particularly given that the CZU fires "threatened some of the world's oldest forests," according to the Times.
"Thankfully, most of the parks’ mighty redwoods survived the flames, and now hope — in the form of expanded green initiatives — is dawning across Santa Cruz County," the Times wrote.

The Times noted efforts are ongoing to reimagine Big Basin Redwoods State Park and that Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park remained open.
