Santa Cruz Shooting Deaths Investigated as Suspicious
Officers responded Tuesday night to an apartment in the 100 block of Chestnut Street on a report of two people locked in a room.

SANTA CRUZ-Police in Santa Cruz are investigating two suspicious deaths that were reported Tuesday.
Officers responded Tuesday at 6:49 p.m. to an apartment in the 100 block of Chestnut Street on a report of suspicious circumstances.
Police said the initial call indicated a man and a woman had been locked inside a room in an apartment for an extended period of time. Neither person answered phone calls from a concerned relative.

Officers discovered the two people deceased from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
The deceased man is a 35-year-old from Santa Cruz, and the deceased woman is a 23-year-old visiting from out of the area.

The identification of the two is being withheld until their family is notified, police said.
