Santa Cruz Woman Arrested For Mailbox Thefts

Santa Cruz Police have arrested the woman they believe was stealing mail from local residents.

SANTA CRUZ - Santa Cruz Police on Tuesday arrested the woman they believe was stealing mail from local residents.

According to information published online, a 911 phone tip from a resident on Bixby Street who saw a woman opening and looking into mailboxes led police to 30-year-old Lillian Norman, a Santa Cruz resident.

Police say when they made contact with Norman, they found mail in her hands that belonged to a resident on Bixby Street. They report she also had a syringe and needle loaded with heroin in her pocket.

Lillian Norman was arrested for mail theft, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

In a separate case, Police say Norman has been identified as the suspected mail thief from a video the police department posted to social media and the SCPD Blog.

Santa Cruz Police say since January, 2015, Lillian Norman has been arrested seven times by their department for crimes that include Burglary, Drug Possession, Possession of Stolen Property, Theft, and Possession of Another Person's Identification.

Police say Norman is also a suspect in a number of other SCPD theft and burglary cases.

Detectives are working to locate additional mail and stolen property that has been taken by Ms. Norman.
