Semi Truck Overturns On Highway 17; Lanes Reopened

A big rig overturned on Highway 17 through the Santa Cruz Mountains Monday, closing the southbound lanes.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — All lanes of Highway 17 are now open after a semi overturned Monday morning, according to Santa Cruz California Highway Patrol.

Highway 17 was closed at Laurel Road about 10 miles south of downtown Los Gatos.

NBC Bay Area reported the big rig was carrying U.S. mail and spilled its cargo across the roadway, blocking all traffic.

CHP spokesperson Officer Alyssa Gutierrez told Patch the female driver, from Santa Clara, was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
