Shoplifting Suspect Wrestled to the Ground Sunday in Downtown
A 26-year-old security guard fought with the suspect and held him for police.

A 36-year-old man who took off with alcohol from a liquor store on the 600 block of Front Street, was caught and held by a security guard from the store.
Tommy Lee Baca, a transient, reportedly grabbed alcohol at 12:45 p.m. Sunday and ran down Pacific Avenue, turning onto Plaza Lane, where he caught up with the suspect.
Police arrived as the guard was struggling with Baca, trying to handcuff him. Baca threatened the guard with a knife, but none was found.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting.
