Six More Toyota Trucks Robbed of Catalytic Converters
Mostly Westside trucks were preyed on again in a crime wave that began in November.

Police say that as many as 18 Toyota trucks have had their catalytic converters stolen since November, after six more were taken overnight Tuesday from trucks parked outside on Dufour Street, Oxford Way, Alamo Aveneue, Lower Bay Street and La Fonda Avenue.
The converters, which cut air pollution are valued because they are made of precious metals, including platinum.
Toyota of Santa Cruz on 41st Avenue in Capitola has been doing modifications for customers to help prevent the thefts for free or or a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

The repairs and replacement of the converters can cost more than $1,000.
Toyotas are picked because the trucks are high off the ground and the part is within easy reach.
