Soquel Crash Sends Santa Cruz Woman to Hospital

BREAKING: CHP officials said the woman was transported to a hospital with major head injuries.

A Santa Cruz woman was hospitalized with a head injury following a two-car collision in unincorporated Soquel early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 4:25 a.m., the 35-year old woman was driving a 2000 Toyota 4Runner on northbound North Rodeo Gulch Road when her vehicle crossed the double yellow lines into the southbound lane. A 2006 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 64-year-old Soquel man, collided with the passenger side of the 4Runner.

Both parties remained at the scene until CHP officers and paramedics arrived. The woman was transported to a hospital with major head injuries, while the Tundra driver was not injured.

The cause of the collision is under investigation and investigators do not know if alcohol or drugs were involved.
