SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Deputies arrested a 73-year-old man suspected of attacking a relative with a knife after a 20-hour standoff Thursday in the unincorporated Santa Cruz County community of Boulder Creek. At about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputies were sent to a home in the 25000 block of state Highway 9 after someone called 911 to report a stabbing.
The suspect, Donald Horan, had allegedly stabbed a relative multiple times during an argument, according to sheriff's officials. The victim, whose exact relationship with Horan was not disclosed, was flown to a trauma center and listed in stable condition. Deputies, who believed Horan had multiple guns, ordered him to
come out of the home but he refused, and a 20-hour standoff ensued, sheriff's officials said.
