Storm, Sewer Project Starts Wednesday in Santa Cruz

Prepare for construction and road closures as work begins on the Trevethan Avenue project.

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The City of Santa Cruz is scheduled to begin the Trevethan Avenue Storm/Sewer Project – Phase I on Wednesday, April 6. The project will reduce flooding, provide more capacity for the sewer system, and improve existing street conditions. Parts of Trevethan Avenue will be closed to through-traffic during weekday construction hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Project completion is expected in June.

The project will install storm drain infrastructure on Trevethan Avenue from Soquel Avenue to Melrose Avenue and upgrade the sewer main from Soquel Avenue to East Gate Avenue. The roadway at the intersection of Trevethan Avenue and Melrose Avenue will be repaved.
Initially Trevethan Avenue will be closed to through-traffic from Soquel Avenue to East Gate; eventually it will be closed all the way to Melrose Avenue.

To access Trevethan from Soquel: eastbound traffic should use Marnell Avenue and Melrose Avenue/Parnell Street; westbound traffic should use Park Way and Almena Street. To access Soquel from Trevethan: southbound traffic should use Almena Street and Park Way.
