Suspect Assaulted Store Employee With Skateboard, Police Say

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who assaulted a store employee with a skateboard on Sunday when he was confronted for shoplifting. Around 6:50 p.m., a man entered the Outdoor World Sporting Goods store at 136 River St. and attempted to steal items from the store.
When an employee asked him to return the items, the suspect threatened and then hit the worker in the face with his skateboard, police said. Surveillance images released by police show that the man was wearing a black T-shirt and gray hat and entered the store carrying the skateboard.
