SWAT Responds to Outdoor World Burglary; Suspect Loose

Santa Cruz police officers responded to a report of a burglary at the recreational store.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- A suspect is loose Thursday after burglarizing the recreational store Outdoor World.

The incident at River and Pacific Streets was reported around 8 a.m., and prompted the Santa Cruz Police Department's SWAT Team to respond. Officers arrived at the scene and deployed a Bearcat because of the guns sold inside the store, according to police spokeswoman Joyce Blascheke.

The scene was cleared around 10:45 a.m. but a suspect was not arrested.

Blascheke said officers are investigating the burglary to determine the number of suspects and what was taken from the store.

No other information was immediately available.
