Two Women Rescued from Natural Bridges Cove After High Tide Blocked Their Path

Two females were rescued from cliffs at Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz on Monday afternoon, according to fire officials.

At about 2:10 p.m. Santa Cruz fire officials received a 911 call reporting that two females were stuck in a beach cove. 

The caller had difficulty identifying the exact location of the subjects. Fire units were able to locate and make contact with the females, who were stranded at the base of a cliff, fire officials said.

A 35-foot extension ladder was lowered down to the beach below and the two subjects were brought up the ladder without injury.  

The two subjects told fire crews that they were from out of town and were unfamiliar with the coastal area.

They had gone for a walk on the beach, but when the tide came in they were unable to return in the direction from which they had come, according to fire officials.
