UCSC Gathering to Protest Dangers of Great Meadow Bike Path
The memorial for cyclist Adrian Burgueno will also serve as the announcement of a lawsuit against UCSC.
A year ago 21-year-old UCSC student Adrian Burgueno was riding his bicycle home from studying at 9 p.m. along the bike path on the campus's Great Meadown, when he crashed into a ditch and injured his head.
He was found that night by another student on a bicycle and died in the hospital three days later of a brain aneurysm.
Friends and family are gathering Friday at noon at the Great Meadow to honor Burgueno and warn about the dangers of this steep path. They will also report a lawsuit, according to a press release sent out by attorney Scott Johnson, who deals in bicycle and pedestrian law.
