Vegetation Fire Spreads In Santa Cruz County

The fire was 90 percent contained Monday.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Firefighters battled a vegetation fire in the Santa Cruz County Monday afternoon.

Dubbed the Vista Fire, the blaze scorched 2 acres and was contained at 90 percent just after 4 p.m. Cal Fire said.

The fire started near Highway 17 and Vista Drive around 2:40 p.m., the agency reported. It burned mostly grass and brush.

The cause and injuries were not immediately known.
